Relationships: full of ups, downs and everything in between, as proven by the new trailer for Scenes from a Marriage, Sky’s new miniseries drama airing in autumn on Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW.
What is it about?
The new show is adapted from Ingmar Bergman’s 1973 Swedish classic, Scenes from a Marriage, and is developed, written, and directed by Hagai Levi (In Treatment and Our Boys).
Starring Oscar Isaac (Show Me a Hero) and Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty), Scenes from a Marriage re-examines the show’s iconic depiction of love, hatred, desire, monogamy, marriage and divorce through the lens of a contemporary American couple over five episodes.
Who is starring?
As well as leads Jessica Chastain and Oscar Isaac, the further cast includes Corey Stoll (Ratched), Nicole Beharie (Little Fires Everywhere), Sunita Mani (GLOW) and Maury Ginsberg (Manifest).
Michelle Williams was previously pinned as the lead, but had to exit the project due to scheduling issues. This is the latest TV project for Chastain, who was recently announced as playing the country star Tammy Wynette in a limited series for Spectrum, Paramount Network, and Paramount Plus.
If anything, it promises to be an emotional rollercoaster. We hear Mira say in the above trailer, “You just believe that, as a couple, nothing can hurt you. And then you gradually start to realize that actually, anything can hurt you.”
When will it be out?
The highly anticipated remake will debut on US HBO on September 12, so we expect to see it launching on Sky’s NOW streaming platform and Sky Atlantic shortly after. Watch this space!
