With highs of 17 degrees predicted in London this weekend, it’s time to lather on the sunscreen and head outdoors. There is no better way to enjoy a long weekend than getting outside, enjoying the spring daffodils and soaking up some sunshine.
London can feel a little claustrophobic at the best of times, but luckily there are some glorious green escapes both in and just outside the city. We’ve compiled our favourite London walks to enjoy this weekend.
Nestled in the South of the city, Dulwich Park is the perfect place to enjoy some gorgeous flowers, greenery and fresh air – all without leaving the city! The bonus of city walks is there is almost always a coffee shop en route.
Arguably London’s most famous city park, and for good reason! Richmond Park is known for vast expansive spaces and herds of deer. It covers 25,000 hectares of land meaning it really is the perfect place to wander for hours on end.
Yet another South London gem! Wimbledon Common is an excellent place to relax and enjoy some bird spotting. Locals say just after noon is the perfect bird watching time.
For those who prefer to wander North of the river, Hampsted Heath is perfect. The park is also home to the largest freshwater swimming pools in London. Although there is a small entry cost to these pools you do not need to book! So, remember to pack your bathing suit if you’re planning a dip!
Only an hour outside the city lies the stunning Virginia Waters! Easily accessible by public transport or car, this is the perfect trail for a sunny afternoon. The trail is just over 4 miles and relatively flat making it the perfect walk for most abilities.
The 153-mile trail begins in Farnham, Surrey. Although we don’t recommend tackling the entire route in one weekend it passes through the Surry Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The trail can be as long or as short as you’d like and there are plenty of villages to stop and enjoy a pub lunch on the way!
