Monday Motivation: Linda Pilkington started her business in her kitchen after developing a childhood hobby creating soaps and candles.
Monday Motivation: Linda would sell her creations in her neighbourhood before an encounter with a friend led to her big break.
In the late 90s, Linda bumped into a childhood friend who was managing the Chanel boutique in Old Bond Street. He was looking for a perfect scented candle to burn. He was unable to find a candle that burned evenly, with a sophisticated scent. Linda, a perfectionist, spent months researching products. She travelled to Grasse, the perfume capital of the world in search of the perfect product. She finally created her renowned candle.
Chanel put in an order and word spread around other stores and boutique hotels in London. Ormonde Jayne Perfumery was registered in November 2000 – nearly 21 years ago. The kitchen table ran out of space and Linda obtained a studio a few months later. Today, the studio is a huge warehouse. Ormonde Jayne has 40 employees and 300 points of sale around the world.
Her travels around the globe were part of her inspiration to create her fragrance collection. Linda travelled to all four corners of the earth for pure absolutes, resins and attars.
Linda credits her success to customer loyalty. Clients who entered the boutique in Old Bond Street 20 years ago, return year after year.
Linda is committed to British manufacturing and all Ormonde Jayne perfumes are made from start to finish by the team in their studio in Kent.
