Netflix continues to tease season five of The Crown with new shots released of Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana.
Netflix have officially released two new images from the set of season five of The Crown — and we couldn’t be more excited.
The shots show actors Elizabeth Debicki and Dominic West playing Princess Diana and Prince Charles. In one shot, West is seen dressed in an olive-coloured suit with a striped tie and gloves, standing outdoors. The other is a close- up of Debicki with Diana’s signature haircut, gazing to the side with a letter on her lap.

This follows from the images of Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II that sent Twitter into a flurry. We think it’s safe to say the make-up and costume department are earning their keep, with the likeness of the late Princess uncanny.
Details of the upcoming season have been kept under tight wraps, but we do know some details of the hit-show’s next season. Keep reading for more.
What will the new season be about?
We used to think The Crown season five would be the show’s last season. However, now we know the show’s team are working on a season six, which will take the story up to the early 2000s.
It’s possible that season five could either end on Princess Diana and Prince Charles’ divorce (finalised in 1996), or with Princess Diana’s death in 1997, leaving the fallout from the tragedy to be explored in season six.
Other events which are likely to be included are the events of 1992, which the Queen famously described as her “annus horribilis”.
Not only did this year mark the start of Princess Diana and Prince Charles’ separation and the publication of the book Diana: Her True Story, but it also saw the separation of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, the finalisation of Princess Anne’s divorce from Mark Phillips and a fire at Windsor Castle.
When will the new series of The Crown arrive on Netflix?
Nothing has been confirmed yet, but we can look at the pattern between previous seasons to know when it could arrive.
When the cast last changed (between seasons two and three), the wait was two years. Season four’s release was at the end of 2020, and season five did not start filming until recently. So it’s likely we won’t see anything hit our screens until 2022.
