Fruit-based skincare can offer an effective way to improve the health and appearance of your skin and hair. Full of antioxidants, vitamins and beneficial nutrients, these powerful ingredients can help unlock the skin and hair you dream of.
Of late, this has become a really big trend with more brands harnessing the fruity powered goodness in their skincare, haircare, fragrances and make-up. One brand I’ve discovered, Kelsey – a Kent based company – have made their humble farm-grown raspberry the star of all their products by using the berry, seed, pulp and leaf.
Incorporating fruit-based hair and skincare into your routine can provide a wide range of benefits: hydration, anti-ageing and brightening to name a few. To get the most from your fruity skincare, make sure to choose the products that best suit your skin, hair type or preferred scent:
- Berries including strawberries, raspberries and blueberries, contain natural alpha-hydroxy acids that leave you with a brighter complexion by promoting cell turnover and renewal, improving dull or pigmented skin.
- Citrus including lemons, oranges, limes and grapefruit, can help regulate oil production, minimise shine and prevent breakouts, while the vitamin C is essential to help maintain elasticity and firmness in the skin.
- Pomegranate can help stimulate collagen and elastin production, resulting in the improvement of fine lines, wrinkles and overall skin tone – great for dull or ageing skin.
- Papaya can target acne, hyperpigmentation and improve skin texture with its papain and chymopapain enzymes.
- Watermelon is very popular as it contains high levels of A, C and D vitamins plus lots of moisture, making it beneficial for sensitive, dry or red prone skin. Pineapple and kiwi can exfoliate and tackle pigmentation, helping to restore glow.
- Avocado is full of rich fats and vitamins C and E, which make it ideal as a moisturising face mask to help keep skin supple.
